Message from the President…..

Greetings fellow comrades.  In wake of my most recent Tank Talk, in which I described the actions of a few members from our club running amok in some distant land, I am forced to implement a few changes in our political doctrine…a revolution if you must.  The aforementioned Talk Tank was thoroughly analyzed and critiqued by the previous President.  Barb’s assessment was, that due to a weak and decedent democratic regime, the bonds of authority had collapsed and the masses succumbed to their unscrupulous and disparaging capitalist lifestyle.  She said that I must rule with an iron fist and take immediate and harsh action to quell any such destructive behavior now and in the future.  Therefore, in a measure to retain order, I decree that I will now attain the position of Premier of the People’s Republic of Kittyhawk Divers.  Elsa's will now be the Motherland

In as such, I will serve the great cooperative sprite, do good deeds and unselfishly serve the people to inspire the masses to become model workers and progressive divers.  I will not strive for neither fame nor profit, fear neither hardship nor death, and devote myself wholeheartedly to the revolution, and work totally for the services of the people.  As premier, I shall bravely fight against tyrants (Steve) that threaten the innocent, endure severe pain and boldly eradicate spiritual pollution (Steve and Randy) and combat bourgeois liberalization….OK, enough of that horsing around.  In a nutshell, Barb said don’t let certain folks out of my sight on scuba trips.

Well folks, we’re already a third into May if you can believe that.  That means next month we will be halfway through the year…wow time flys.  It also means that we are on the heels of the summer diving season.  A few of the Kittyhawks kicked off the season by hooking up with several folks from the Gavia Scuba Club at a recent outing.  Steve, Barb, and I packed up our gear and headed out to the Primary Oceanic Operations Laboratory (POOL) for some technical dive training.  Training consisted of navigating confined areas while employing a variable buoyancy, adjustable drive, Diver Propulsion Vehicle. That really means we played with a tiny 12 volt Scooty-Puff 200 in a swimming pool…The Gavia’s were kind enough to invite us to their annual Pool Party at Miami University .  It was fun to get out and play in the water.  And there’s nothing like going to a campus to look at college girls to remind oneself that there is a definite line of demarcation between that of a young eligible bachelor and a creepy old guy...so much for life begins at 40!

There is not much on the horizon to report.  We have opportunities for local dives, the DAN BBQ in July, and the possibility of a trip Panama City later in the fall.  The Gavia’s have a trip to Cay Sal Bank aboard the Nekton if anyone is interested.  The trip is scheduled for August.  See Mark or the Gavia web site for further details.

I’m sure well have something for the upcoming meeting.  Either Steve will have some Belize/other dive footage or I can bring in some video from Curacao .

Until next time!
